Editor's Note: This tribute was sent by Christine Berry, the widow of Anthony (Tony) Berry. She contributed
this memorial in response to the postcard announcing the 30th reunion.
There will be additional photos soon, so please check back in a few days.
Anthony (Tony) Berry attended Westland and was part of the class of 1976. He remained in Ohio for several years, then moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1987, where he married Chris Schindlbeck in 1989. Together they had one son, Wyatt who is now 12 years old. Tony was an avid golfer, sports fan, and most recently a Harley Davidson enthusiast after realizing a long-time dream of having one last September. He loved that motorcycle, and was so proud to show it to everyone who came over. He got a special glow whenever he and the guys stood out in the driveway admiring it, and ironically he was riding it alongside his best friend Steve Flanigan, when the accident occurred that took his life. He is sadly missed by all who knew and loved him, and he will always remain in our hearts and minds through our many memories of him. My favorite one is seeing him get off the bike the day before his accident all tan and smiling after a ride. Wyatt and I are getting along with the help of a huge support group of family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. We think of him and talk about him often, as I believe that memories are the best way to honor someone who is no longer with us. My thoughts are with all of you as you celebrate your 30-year reunion, and I'm sure that Tony is there with you in spirit, also. Sincerely, Chris Berry |
